Tab Tree Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Tab Tree Chrome extension (“Tab Tree”) handles information. Tab Tree is designed to visualize and manage open browser tabs as a connected graph.

Information Tab Tree handles

To provide its tab-graph features, Tab Tree accesses the following information from open Chrome tabs:

• Tab URLs, pending URLs, page titles, and website favicons.
• Tab and window identifiers, tab order, active state, and opener relationships.
• Extension state such as graph connections, node positions, zoom and pan state, and user-selected display settings.

This information may constitute web-browsing activity under Chrome Web Store policy. Tab Tree does not read the body content of webpages, passwords, form entries, personal communications, or payment information.

How the information is used

Tab Tree uses this information only to:

• Display open tabs as recognizable nodes in a visual graph.
• Show and maintain parent-child relationships between tabs.
• Create, activate, organize, and close tabs at the user’s request.
• Preserve the graph layout, connections, camera position, and settings between popup openings and browser sessions.

Local storage and retention

Tab Tree stores graph state and preferences locally on the user’s device using chrome.storage.local. Tab Tree has no developer-operated server, analytics service, advertising service, or user account system. The extension does not transmit tab information or saved settings to the developer.

Stored graph information is updated as tabs are opened, changed, or closed. Remaining local extension data is retained while Tab Tree is installed so that its settings and graph can be restored. Chrome removes the extension’s local storage when the extension is uninstalled.

Favicons

Tab Tree uses Chrome’s built-in favicon API to display the website icon associated with each tab. Favicons are used only to help users visually identify their tabs. Tab Tree does not send favicon requests or tab URLs to a developer-operated service.

Sharing and sale of information

Tab Tree does not sell, rent, share, or transfer user information to third parties. It does not use information for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, lending, or any purpose unrelated to its tab-management features.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use disclosure

Tab Tree’s use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information is used only to provide or improve Tab Tree’s single-purpose, user-facing functionality.

Data deletion

Users can delete all information stored by Tab Tree by uninstalling the extension from Chrome. Because Tab Tree does not operate an external server or account system, the developer does not retain a separate copy of the extension’s locally stored data.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated if Tab Tree’s features or data practices change. Any updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. The Chrome Web Store privacy disclosures will also be updated when required.
